University of Wollongong in Dubai in collaboration with ENAI WG Centre for Academic Integrity in the UAE organised the fourth Integrity Spring Camp this week for K-12 students. Powered by Turnitin, with 30 students attending from various schools in #UAE, the three-day hybrid event was a whirl-wind of activities, fun and games around academic integrity and writing as transitional training for students.
Aimed to help students learn academic writing skills and explicitly discuss and learn academic integrity values, this year, we had three categories of students this year - Juniors, Sub Seniors and Seniors, ranging from Grades 6 to 12. Students were highly engaged and super interactive through out the three days. The overwhelming theme of the feedbacks from the campers was "the camp was extremely interactive as well as informative and fun"!
The camp workshops were designed by Dr Zeenath Reza Khan, founding President of ECAIU, with a session on academic writing by Ajrina Hysaj, Chair of ECAIU Active Committee and a special session from Turnitin on the importance of Originality.
The camp ended with a writing competition that was unsupervised to encourage trust, honesty, respect and responsibility among the campers. Congratulations to the winners of the Writing Competition - judges were extremely impressed with their effort and ability to bring in what they learned during the camp into their writing so soon!
