Teacher Co-Design Incubator: From Principles to Practice
Responsible AI, Academic Integrity and the Dubai Accord

The ENAI WG Centre for Academic Integrity in the UAE, in collaboration with the University of Wollongong in Dubai and the Leading House MENA – Designing for Trust project, invites school teachers across the UAE to take part in a one-day Teacher Co-Design Incubator exploring responsible and trustworthy uses of generative AI in education.
The Incubator moves beyond simply discussing AI principles. Teachers will engage directly with emerging research on student experiences of generative AI, participate in an interactive Human Library workshop, and work with researchers, academic mentors and fellow educators to co-design practical classroom tools, scenarios and reflection resources.
The ideas developed during the day will contribute to a practical Responsible AI and Academic Integrity Educator Toolkit, bringing teacher voices directly into the project’s research-to-practice outputs.

Eligibility
The Incubator is open to K–12 school teachers across the UAE, from primary through secondary education and from any Emirate.
Schools may nominate up to two teachers to participate.
We welcome educators from different subject areas and levels of experience with AI. Participants do not need to be AI experts. We are particularly interested in teachers who want to contribute their classroom experience and perspectives to the responsible use of generative AI in education.
Places are limited and advance registration is required.

One-Day Teacher Co-Design Incubator
This is a participatory co-design experience rather than a traditional training workshop.
Teachers will first engage with emerging findings from the Designing for Trust research, including student perspectives on the usefulness, reliability, responsible use and academic-integrity implications of generative AI.
Participants will then move from evidence to practice through facilitated activities and a Human Library workshop before working in small groups to develop practical resources that educators can use in real classroom contexts.
The co-design sessions will be supported by Dr Zeenath Reza Khan, Dr Mohamed Al Janahi, Dr Sawsan Abutabenjeh and additional mentors from the Centre for Academic Integrity in the UAE.
The outputs from the day will be synthesised into a practical educator toolkit and shared as part of the project's final dissemination.
What participants will do
During the Incubator, teachers will:

explore findings from current research on student use, trust and decision-making around generative AI;

participate in a 90-minute interactive Human Library workshop exploring responsibility, trust, academic integrity and lived experiences with AI;

work in facilitated groups to co-design practical classroom tools, scenarios and reflection activities;

consider how responsible AI practice connects with academic integrity and the Dubai Accord;

contribute ideas and resources to a project Educator Toolkit; and
-
network with teachers, researchers, academic mentors and project partners.
Why teacher co-design?
Responsible AI guidance should not be designed for educators without educators. The Designing for Trust project therefore brings teachers directly into the development process, creating a space to connect research evidence with classroom realities and explore what responsible AI practice looks like across different subjects, age groups and learning contexts.
During the Incubator, teachers will co-design practical scenarios, reflection activities and classroom resources based on their own experiences and the project’s emerging research findings. These contributions will then be synthesised by the research team into a Responsible AI and Academic Integrity Educator Toolkit.
The aim is to ensure that the final toolkit is not only research-informed, but also practical, context-sensitive and grounded in real educational experience, with the completed resource to be shared as a project output and showcased at the final dissemination event.
